Matthew 3:2  {John the Baptist] “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Related to “Making ready the way of the Lord and making His paths straight.” (Isaiah 40:3, Matthew 3:3)

Matthew 3:8  (John the Baptist)  “Therefore bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance.”  Also Luke 3:8.  Related to fleeing the wrath to come, making paths straight, and making ready the way of the Lord.  Related to sharing and honesty (Luke 3:10 – 14).

Matthew 3:11  (John the Baptist)  “I baptize you with water for repentance.”

Matthew 4:17  (Jesus)  “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Related to coming out of darkness and the shadow of death (Isaiah 9:2, Matthew 4:16)  Also Luke 13:3 and 5, related to escaping spiritual death.

Matthew 11:20  Jesus reproached those who saw miracles and did not repent.  Related to sorrow (Matthew 11:21)

Matthew 12:41  The men of Nineveh repented at the preaching of Jonah.  Related to sorrow and appealing to God (Jonah 3:5 – 9) Also Luke 10:13 and 11:32

Matthew 21:29  A son said he would work, but repented of it.  Related to a change of mind.

Matthew 21 32  Seeing sinners responding to John should have produced a change of mind in the chief priests and elders.

Matthew 27:3  Judas repented of his betrayal of Jesus.  Related to grief and an attempt to make amends.

Mark 1:4  John preach a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.  This was accompanied by confessing their sins (v5).  Also Luke 3:3

Mark 1:15  (Jesus) The kingdom of heaven is at hand.  Repent and believe in the gospel.

Mark 6:12  The disciples preached that men should repent.

Luke 5:32  (Jesus)  “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.  Related to recognition of sin.

Luke 15:7 and 10  (Jesus)  There is more joy over one sinner who repents than 99 righteous persons who need no repentance.

Luke 16:30  (Jesus’ parable)  “No, Father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.”

Luke 17:3 – 4  (Jesus)  If he repents, forgive him.

Luke 24:47  (Jesus)  Repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed.

Acts 2:38  Repent and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19  Repent therefore and return that your sins may be wiped away, in order that the times of refreshing may come.

Acts 5:31  To grant repentance to Israel and the forgiveness of sins.

Acts 8:22  Repent of this wickedness of yours and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart be forgiven you.

2 Corinthians 7:8 – 10  I repented of causing sorrow by letter.  Promoting sorrow to the point of repentance, which leads to salvation.

2 Corinthians 12:21  I mourn over many who have sinned in the past and not repented of the impurity, immorality and sensuality which they have practiced.

2 Timothy 2:25  With gentleness correcting those in opposition if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the truth and may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

Hebrews 6:1  Elementary teaching of …repentance from dead works

Hebrews 7:21  God will not change His mind (not repent) of His promise

Summary:

Repentance means to change attitudes, change behavior, escape judgment, be grief-stricken over the sins of the past, in order to prepare for the Kingdom on earth and in heaven, to enter into life through understanding and purity, to complete the incomplete, to return to righteousness, to come to one’s senses and escape the snare of the devil, all based on a recognition of the kindness of God.  People change direction (repent) to become Christians.  To repent again would be to leave.
