JAMES

To all of God’s people who are scattered everywhere in the world:  Greetings.

Chapter 1: Ask for wisdom: it produces the desire to seek God,  power to face problems with joy

True Riches:  understand that the greatest treasure is already ours.

18 He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word.  And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

Truly happy people:  those who study God’s word and lives it, produces joy we can’t explain

Religion that God accepts: care for those who need help, keep yourself free from world’s evil

Chapter 2: It’s a sin: treating people differently,  break one of God’s law equals breaking all

Mercy:     you must show mercy or God will not show you mercy

Faith must be demonstrated:  faith that does nothing is dead     (Micah 6:8, James 6:29)

JAMES CHAPTER 3

James 3:1 not many of you should become teachers, those who teach will be judged more strictly.

James 3:2 We all make many mistakes (We all stumble in many ways)   If people never said anything wrong, they would be perfect and able….

James 3:3-12  we put bits in the mouth of horses to make them obey us… a very small rudder controls a big ship.  It is the same with the tongue. – a small part of the body – it’s like a fire.

8 no one can tame the tongue.

9-10  Praises and curses come from the same mouth!  This should not happen.

James 3:13  are you truly wise and understanding?  Show it by living right and doing good things… that come from wisdom

James 3:14-16 If you are selfish and have jealousy in your hearts… That kind of “wisdom” does not come from God.  It comes from the world… It is not spiritual. Where jealousy and selfishness are, there will be confusion and every kind of evil.

James 3:17 … wisdom that comes from God is first of all pure,  peaceful,  gentle,  and easy to please.  This wisdom is always ready to help… and to do good…     It is always fair and honest.

James 3:18       Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness
