• What gifts from God were given to people in the New Testament?
    • (James 1:17) “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.” Gifts in the context are
      • Various trials (v2) that produce patience and perfection
      • Wisdom (v5)
      • Low status (v9)
      • Enduring temptation places one above the cares of life (v12)
      • The crown of life (v12)
      • Temptation is not a gift (v13); don’t over-generalize
    • (Hebrews 6:4 – 5) The heavenly gift is parallel to enlightenment, partaking of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the powers of the age to come
    • (Ephesians 2:8) The faith economy is a gift
    • (Romans 5:15 – 18) Gift of righteousness by grace results in justification
