1ST  PETER     CHAPTER 3

Chapter one:

YOUR FAITH AND YOUR HOPE ARE IN GOD.

You were born again through   GOD’S LIVING MESSAGE THAT CONTINUES FOREVER.

Chapter two:

1 So then,  rid yourselves of all evil, all lyinghypocrisy,  jealousy,  and evil speech.

2-3  … you should want the pure and simple teaching.  By it you can mature in your salvation,

4-6 Come to the Lord Jesus, the “stone” that lives… You also are like living stones….

ANYONE WHO TRUSTS IN HIM WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED.

7-8  This stone is worth much to you who believe.   … he is a stone that causes people to stumble.

9-10 But you are a chosen people….In the past you had never received mercy, but now you have … 11 you are like foreigners and strangers in this world.

12 People who do not believe are all around…Live such good lives that they will see the good….

13-15 For the Lord’s sake,  yield to the people who have authority in this world…  (msg)

16-17 Live as servants of God…   Love God’s family… respect God, honor the king.

18-23   Slaves, yield to authority.. with all respect… the good and also the dishonest.  Christ suffered for you …gave an example to follow   You should do as  he did.

24 Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross…. you are healed because of his wounds.

25 You were like sheep that wander away… now you have a Shepherd and Overseer of your souls

Chapter 3

1-7  Wives should yield to their husbands… beauty should come from within you; the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit that will never  be destroyed and is very precious to God.

You husbands should live with your wives in a understanding way…   Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers.

8  all of you should be in agreement,  understanding, loving, kind, and humble

9-12  Do not do wrong to repay a wrong.  Do not insult to repay an insult. The Scripture says…. The Lord sees good the people and listens to their prayers.

13-14 If you are trying hard to be good, no one can really hurt you.  “Don’t be afraid of what they fear;  do not dread those things.”

15-16 Respect Christ as the holy Lord in your hearts.  Always be ready to answer everyone who asks you to explain about the hope you have

17-18 … better to suffer for doing good and for doing wrong   Christ himself suffered for sins once. He was not guilty, but he suffered for those who are guilty to bring you to God.

19-20  in the spirit Christ went and preached to the spirits in prison who refused to obey God long ago. Noah was building the boat— only eight – were saved by water.

21-22 that water is like baptism that now saves you– this is because Jesus Christ was raised from dead
